Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kostadin Kodzhabashev participated in the solemn celebration of two significant anniversaries for the cooperation between Bulgaria and Albania — 110 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations and 30 years since the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Albania, which took place at the Sofia City Art Gallery. The Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Ms. Megi Fino, was also a guest of honour at the event.

The concert, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Sofia, was held under the title ‘Music unites people — Albania — Bulgaria 110 years of friendship’. It is part of a programme bringing together a number of cultural events throughout the year, which will take place in both countries.

In his welcoming speech, Deputy Minister Kodzhabashev highlighted the traditionally good relations between the two countries, which are based on friendly and strong historical, cultural and educational relations.

The Bulgarian diplomat stressed the need to deepen bilateral dialogue, establish closer relations and develop sectoral cooperation. ‘Today we are NATO allies and partners. As an EU member state, Bulgaria has always supported Albania's European path,’ the Deputy Minister stressed, adding: ‘I take this opportunity to emphasize that Bulgaria and Albania are countries of the strategic transport corridor No 8 — its construction has a key role to play in improving connectivity, increasing trade and prosperity of the countries along it, as well as in enhancing the mobility of NATO allies.’
