North Korea violates international law

13 April 2012 News

Statement by the Foreign Ministry spokesperson in response to the rocket launch of a satellite by the DPRK

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its deep concern at the DPRK’s April 13 2012 rocket launch and its regret that North Korea did not comply with calls from the international community for the decision to be reviewed.

We regard this action as a violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1874 and of international agreements entered into by the DPRK regarding the launching of long-range missiles.

We call on the leadership of North Korea to refrain from further actions that could lead to an exacerbation of tensions on the Korean peninsula and a hampering of efforts to resume six-party talks and the establishment of peace and stability in the region.
