Minister Daniel Mitov met with the Ambassador of the Lebanese Republic

12 November 2014 News

Bulgaria and Lebanon are  traditionally good partners and the bilateral relations between our two countries are excellent, said Minister Daniel Mitov during his meeting today with Fares Eid, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lebanese Republic in Sofia, on the occasion of his final departure from the country.

The Lebanese diplomat thanked Minister Mitov for the excellent cooperation between the Lebanese mission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and assured that he retains excellent memories of his stay in our country. Ambassador Eid underlined the rich longstanding ties between our two countries in the economic, political and educational sphere. He recalled the large number of Lebanese students educated in our country, which are the best ambassadors of Bulgaria in Lebanon.

The two diplomats discussed the crisis in the Middle East and the growing migration pressure, both on Bulgaria and especially on Lebanon, which is facing a humanitarian crisis due to the influx of Syrian refugees.

Minister Mitov assured Ambassador Fares Eid that the EU follows closely the humanitarian crisis in Lebanon and  is looking for ways of helping the country in close cooperation with the international community. At the same time, the problem can not be solved without finding a lasting solution to the security situation in the entire Middle East.
