MFA works towards attracting foreign investment in the country

One of the tasks of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to strengthen the foreign trade and to encourage foreign investment in the country, said the Foreign Minister Kristian Vigenin at a press conference in Yambol. He announced that in the spring he plans to visit foreign diplomats in the area in order to show them the tourism potential of the region and to draw their attention to the investment opportunities. " As a person connected to Yambol, I want to introduce the diplomats with the region  because it is important that the representatives of other countries are more aware of particular regions," said Kristian Vigenin.

Before the press conference, the Foreign Minister held a working meeting with the Governor of Yambol region Nikolay Penev, who expressed full support to the initiative. They discussed topics of the migration pressure on the Bulgarian- Turkish border, the operation of the temporary distribution center in the town of Elhovo and the work of the Lesovo border checkpoint.

Speaking to reporters , Kristian Vigenin said that in the spring together with the Minister of Defense , Angel Naydenov, he will visit the region again to check the construction of the barrier along the border facilities and to ensure that on this part of the Bulgarian-Turkish border more full and adequate control will be exercised . "It is possible that in the spring the migration pressure will increase , but we're now better prepared ," assured Minister Vigenin.

With regard to  Ukraine, the Foreign Minister expressed that the idea of ​​creating an international contact group which will provide the opportunity toRussia and Ukraine to talk directly and seek a diplomatic solution to the situation will be realized soon.  According to Vigenin the "people from the Yambol region are following  the situation in Ukraine with even greater interest because Tundja municipality and the city of Bolhrad in Odessa province  are very close, there is a strong cooperation and many personal contacts".

Among the  other topics discussed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, was the opportunity to train Libyan military personnel in the Novo Selo training range. "The negotiations with Libya on signing an agreement that will allow us  to start training  a number of Libyan military are ongoing. I can assure you that we are extra careful regarding security. We have the necessary guarantees for this from the  American and Libyan sides and we research the experience of other countries such as Britain and Italy that have already started such trainings, " said Minister Vigenin.

The visit of the Foreign Minister in Yambol region continues with a visit to the temporary distribution center in Elhovo, Regional Border Police Directorate - Elhovo and Lesovo border checkpoint. Later in the day, Kristian Vigenin will participate in the awards ceremony for talented children  from the Yambol region, organized by the Foundation “Encho Keryazov” . " It is an honor for me to be here today and to show my respect to a man who glorifies Yambol and the region. Such people are our best ambassadors in the world and so I wanted personally to support his noble initiative, " said Minister Vigenin.
