Kristian Vigenin met with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Macedonia

Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Vigenin was on a working visit today to Skopje at the invitation of his Macedonian counterpart Nikola Poposki. The two ministers discussed current issues of mutual interest and shared the belief that the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Macedonia have the necessary potential and should aim at intensifying their cooperation in areas such as economy, transportation, infrastructure, etc. They made a commitment to prepare and conduct a session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and to launch a Business Forum in parallel.

Simultaneously, the work on the Treaty of friendship, cooperation and good- neighborliness is ongoing which should place the bilateral relations on a new level.

During the working visit Minister Vigenin delivered a lecture to diplomats at the MFA of the Republic of Macedonia on the topic " The EU and the Western Balkans - challenges in 2014."

The Bulgarian Foreign Minister held a meeting also with the Group for Friendship with Bulgaria at the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, during which the opportunities for strengthening the dialogue between the parliaments of the two countries were discussed.

Outside the official program, Minister Vigenin will hold meetings with the opposition leader Zoran Zaev, Bulgarians and associations for the development of friendship between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Macedonia, and will visit the Bulgarian Cultural and Information Centre in Skopje.
