The Francophonie – a space for dialogue and solidarity

"The International Organization of  the Francophonie has become an indisputable factor in making important decisions on a global scale due to the dynamic political and diplomatic activity and the serious work in the field of human rights, democracy and peace," Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Vigenin said in his statement at the 29th session of the Member States Ministerial conference of the International Organization of the Francophonie .

In front of the heads of the delegations of the 77 members of the OIF, Minister Vigenin emphasized the role of the organization in strengthening human rights and peace in Mali and DR Congo, as well as for sustaining democratic elections in Madagascar and Guinea. He called the OIF to help, in the spirit of its democratic values ​​, for solving the humanitarian problems of the refugees in close cooperation with other international organizations.

This year Bulgaria celebrates the 20th anniversary of its membership in the International Organization of the Francophonie , the Foreign Minister said. He expressed satisfaction with the set of events, organized in our country on this occasion and with the support of OIF , which raised awareness of the core mission of the Francophonie to protect peace , solidarity , human rights , and have contributed to strengthening its position in South East Europe.

During the ministerial meeting of the Francophonie, Kristian Vigenin held talks with the head of the  Romanian delegation - Mihail Dobre, State Secretary for Global Affairs, and of the Canadian delegation - Christian Paradis, Minister of International Development and Minister for La Francophonie.
