23 November 2021 News

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Svetlan Stoev reassured the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia Zoran Zaev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani and the Minister of Health Venko Filipche that the MFA of the Republic of Bulgaria is providing all necessary assistance, within its competences, in connection to the bus crash on the Struma Motorway.

Earlier today, Minister Stoev welcomed the Republic of North Macedonia’s government delegation to the Pirogov Hospital in Sofia, where they visited the victims of the perilous road accident. The director of the hospital, Prof. Ivan Poromanski, informed them about the condition of the patients and the care which is being provided currently.

The MFA, as well as the Bulgarian embassy in Skopje, are in constant contact with the MFA of the Republic of North Macedonia and its diplomatic mission in Sofia.

In view of the humanitarian aspect of the case we have asked the competent Bulgarian institutions to ensure an unimpeded, priority entry into Bulgaria of the relatives of the deceased and injured, as well as of the representatives of local media. Within its competencies, the MFA also provides assistance to a team of forensic physicians, as well as to employees of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of North Macedonia, who will arrive in our country in connection with the accident.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria once again expresses its sincere condolences to the Republic of North Macedonia in view of this tragedy.
