A photo exhibition at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presents the traditions and customs of the countries of Southeast Europe

Documentary exhibition entitled "Journey through living traditions. The Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Countries of Southeast Europe. presents the typical folk customs, celebrations and traditions of the region. It was opened today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the occasion and on the eve of the 65th anniversary of Bulgaria's accession to UNESCO, which we celebrate on May 17, 2021.

"Every anniversary is an occasion for balance. Since joining UNESCO in 1956, Bulgaria has shared and worked actively to implement the main goals and programs of the organization. Our participation in the activities of UNESCO, in turn, gives us the opportunity to be present with dignity in the world treasury of material, intangible and documentary-cultural heritage, "said Director General of the Global Affairs Directorate Ulyana Bogdanska.

She also noted that UNESCO plays an important role in mobilizing the cultural, educational and scientific community.

The exhibition documents in over 100 photographs bright elements of the living cultural heritage of the region and aims to acquaint with the values ​​enshrined in the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The panel depicts a variety of objects, artifacts and social practices, typical knowledge and skills related to the life of the countries in the region.

The exhibition is an initiative of the Regional Center for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and is organized by the National Commission for Bulgaria, for UNESCO and the State Cultural Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
