24 May 2021 News

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria congratulates May 24 - the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture and the Slavic literature!

On the occasion of May 24, the State Cultural Institute under the Minister of Foreign Affairs prepared two virtual initiatives, with which we greet our compatriots at home and abroad and the friends of Bulgaria around the world.

A bilingual video was made for the Bulgarian Letters Festival, telling the story and the path of the art installation "Bulgarian Letters / Hidden Letters", how the letters are made, "their life" in Sofia and Plovdiv and the extremely successful international presentation under the name "Bulgarian Letters" in Paris, Rabat, Berlin and Budapest. The project, which is being implemented for the first time in 2018, is 12 original benches in the form of unique letters for the Cyrillic alphabet, each of which is related to a poem and translated into the respective language of a contemporary Bulgarian poet. The video, which can be seen at the following link

is a part of the partnership between DKI and Read Sofia Foundation.

Until May 25 with the support of the Bulgarian National Television in the YouTube channel of DKI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAtA9QipdRw  The documentary "Walking on Miracles" by Boyko Vassilev and Hrisimir Danev will be available for viewing. The film tells about the life of St. Kliment Ohridski, for his unbroken spirit, enthusiasm and will to finish the mission. The story is a journey through time, but also in Ohrid, Kostur and Sofia, in the Albanian and Slovak lands and walking in the wonders of St. Clement.

On this festive day of spirituality and knowledge, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria sends its congratulations and thanks to the Bulgarian communities abroad for their activity, enthusiasm and initiatives to help promote Bulgaria and preserve the Bulgarian spirit, wherever it is around the world.
