12 September 2012 News

Norway’s financial support is an important tool in carrying out projects to restore cultural monuments in Bulgaria, Foreign Minister Nickolay Mladenov said at a meeting with Gry Larsen, State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway. Gry Larsen is visiting Sofia in connection with the official launch of the second programme period (2009-2014) of the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism. A total of 126.6 million euro has been allocated to Bulgaria in these two mechanisms.

“We highly appreciate the excellent co-operation. There are many good projects on which we can work together, deepening the ties between the two countries,” Gry Larsen said.

Minister Mladenov and State Secretary Larsen discussed opportunities for strengthening economic and trade co-operation, developing the potential of areas of investment, the integration of Roma people, among other issues. Gry Larsen spoke highly of the efforts by the Government regarding Roma integration and the setting aside of 10 per cent of European funds for this purpose.
