19 July 2012 News

The number of victims of the attack at Sarafovo Airport has risen to seven. This includes the Bulgarian driver of the doomed bus. Five of the victims were Israeli citizens. The seventh was likely a suicide bomber. His false US documents were found at the site of the explosion.

Late last night, the Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borissov held a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu. They were adamant that this attack is a threat against both countries. The two Prime Ministers expressed their sincere condolences to the relatives of the victims.

Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev today held a telephone conversation with the President of Israel, Shimon Peres. The main message of their conversation was that this attack cannot spoil the good relations between Bulgaria and Israel and should not be turned into a victory of terrorism over peace.

The Government Airbus is transporting 65 Israeli tourists back to their homeland. An Israeli Air Force Hercules aircraft carrying 33 injured Israeli citizens has departed from the Sarafovo airport and is en route to Israel.
