MFA Position on the US DPRK Summit

We welcome the agreements reached at the Summit meeting between US President Donald Trump and DPRK State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong-un in Singapore on June 12, 2018
The meeting marks a new stage in the relations between the US and the DPRK and along with the Republic of Korea – DPRK Summit in April this year is an important step towards achieving long-lasting peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and in the region.
The Republic of Bulgaria, including in its current capacity as EU local representation in Pyongyang, will continue to support EU’s diplomatic efforts in promoting dialogue and confidence building.
We expect concrete measures, implementing the Singapore agreements to be taken in order to reach the ultimate goal of comprehensive, verifiable and irreversible cessation of the DPRK nuclear and missile programmes.
