Minister Vigenin to participate in the regular meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council

Minister Kristian Vigenin will participate in the regular meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council which will be held on 17 March in Brussels. The EU top diplomats will discuss the Eastern Partnership, focusing on the situation in Ukraine, and the referendum on the future status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the EU response, including the legal implications of the current agreements between the EU and Russia.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton will inform the foreign ministers on the progress of Iran's nuclear program and the preparations for the start of the EUFOR CAR operation in the Central African Republic.

Among the topics that the ministers will discuss are also the developments of the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the progress of the Middle East peace process, as well as the situation in Syria and its impact on the whole region. The agenda of the Council includes the preparation of the EU-Africa Summit, which will be held on 2-3 April in Brussels.
