A Bulgarian delegation, headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Vigenin, will participate in the 37th session of the UNESCO General Conference, opening on 5 November 2013 at the organization's headquarters in Paris. The session will be attended by representatives of various ministries who will present in the plenary hall and the committees the Bulgarian positions on the discussed issues. Minister Vigenin will deliver a statement in the plenary hall on 7 November 2013.

The conference will examine and adopt the draft Programme and Budget of the Organization for 2014-2017 and the Medium-Term Strategy of UNESCO for 2014-2021. On the session’s agenda are also elections of new Executive Board members and programme committees.  The new Director General of the organization will be approved, for which previously the UNESCO Executive Board has nominated Irina Bokova.

The agenda of the session includes analysis of the activities of UNESCO in 2012-2013, as well as discussions on the common policy and reform processes of the organization and on administrative and budgetary matters.
