The Regional center in Sofia is a place for cooperation between the countries of Central and Eastern Europe

"We need to emphasize the political importance of the Regional center as a dynamic and significant factor through which the Francophone cooperation between the countries of Central and Eastern Europe has gained new dimensions," says the congratulatory message of Foreign Minister Kristian Vigenin to the participants in the launched today two-day regional seminar on the 20th anniversary of Bulgaria's membership in the International Organization of the Francophonie. In his address, Minister Vigenin particularly emphasized the role of the Francophonie in maintaining a culture of peace and solidarity between the countries and contributing to the respect of human rights and democracy.

The seminar with a main topic “Motivation in the process of learning and teaching French as a foreign language" is organized by the Francophone Regional Center for Central and Eastern Europe (CREFECO) in Sofia, the Regional antenna of the University Agency of the Francophonie and the MFA. Teachers and professors from Albania, Armenia, Bulgaria, Vietnam, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania and France are discussing the role of the new technologies, the intercultural exchange and multilingualism in language learning, as well as different ways to optimize the connection between the business and the education sector for the purpose of providing a better link between education and the needs of the labor market.

The seminar has not only didactic, but also political significance as it fits in the strategically Integrated Programme for the French language, adopted on the XIV-th Summit of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) in October 2012 and reflects the commitment of Bulgaria as a leading country for the promotion of the francophone values ​​in the region of Central and Eastern Bulgaria.
