30 May 2024 News

On 29 May 2024, a regular meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Coordination Mechanism (MCM) for the accession of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Deputy Minister Angelieva underlined the continuity and strong commitment of the caretaker government to one of the main foreign policy priorities for the country — Bulgaria's accession to the OECD. She welcomed the progress achieved so far in the negotiation process and called for maintaining an active pace on the part of all the agencies and institutions involved.

During the meeting, Ms. Angelieva presented the results of the annual meeting of the OECD Council at ministerial level, held on 2—3 May this year in Paris. She highlighted Bulgaria’s participation in the forum at the highest political level — Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, which is a clear message of our country's consistent commitment and direct participation in the discussions on important topics on the agenda of the Organization.

The MCM meeting reviewed the current state of the accession process. Recommendations derived from technical review reports were discussed, as well as measures already taken and planned to align national policies and legislation with OECD standards and requirements.
