During the talks, the two diplomats highlighted the excellent bilateral dialogue between the two countries, as well as the long-standing cultural ties between the Bulgarian and Czech people. They discussed the prospects for further deepening bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest such as economy and investment, tourism, security and defence, as well as cooperation within the EU and NATO.
Deputy Minister Ivan Kondov expressed appreciation for the consistent support of the Czech Republic for the accession of our country to Schengen and briefed Ambassador Toman on the progress of Bulgaria's accession process to the euro area.
In the course of the talks, the interlocutors also discussed topical issues on the European and Euro-Atlantic agenda, including the European perspective of the Western Balkan countries, the need for continued support for Ukraine, security in the Black Sea, as well as the upcoming informal meeting of the foreign ministers of the NATO member states in Prague.
