Political consultations at Director General level between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and Croatia

05 April 2023 News

On 4 April 2023, Director-General level consultations on European affairs took place in Zagreb between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Croatia.

Mrs. Slavena Gergova discussed with Mrs. Zrinka Vujic the current topics on the European agenda, including Ukraine, energy, migration and the Eurozone. Croatia confirmed its support for Bulgaria's accession to Schengen and the Eurozone.

During her visit to Croatia, Mrs Gergova also held talks with the Director General for the Western Balkans and the EU Enlargement Process, Mr Stribor Kikerec, with whom they discussed the situation in the Western Balkans region and mechanisms for closer coordination of efforts to support the European future of the Western Balkans.

In the framework of the consultations, the two sides welcomed the intensification of the political dialogue, which is reflected in the forthcoming official visit of the Croatian President, Mr Zoran Milanović, to Sofia in May.  Opportunities were discussed to deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including through additional high-level visits to Bulgaria.
