In memory of Ambassador Konstantin Andreev

26 May 2023 News

Today we sadly bid farewell to Ambassador Konstantin Andreev, who left us on 22 May 2023.  He was the first diplomatic official to hold the highest post in our system — Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Konstantin Andreev started his diplomatic career in 1979 and passed through all levels of the service hierarchy — from attaché to ambassador. He has held important senior positions such as Director of the Directorates for South-East Europe, Human Rights and International Humanitarian Organizations, Acting Head of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Bulgaria to the United Nations in Geneva and Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria in Bucharest. Throughout his rich and successful professional career, Mr. Andreev has devoted much effort to strengthening the country's authority and to the development of the Bulgarian diplomatic service. He was a wonderful colleague, a brilliant professional and a dignified man who will be remembered for his rich erudition and charisma.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Ambassador Konstantin Andreev.

We bow before his bright memory!
