Statement by the National Coordinator for Combating Anti-Semitism, Georg Georgiev on the occasion of an anti-Semitic speech in a TV show

“As the national coordinator for combating against anti-Semitism, I express my indignation at the anti-Semitic statement made on February 23, 2021 in the program "The Last Wins" on the Bulgarian National Television.
Hate speech in all its forms has no place in the Bulgarian public space and its arena should not be the most watched time on national media. Anti-Semitism is historically excluded from the traditionally tolerant nature of the Bulgarians.
The replication of those associated with the denial of one of the darkest periods in human history is an insult to the memory of the millions of innocent victims.
I strongly oppose any attempt to rewrite history. Ignorance is dangerous, and the distortion and concealment of the truth have the potential to affect the democratic values we stand for as a people.”
