Bulgaria and Panama to Boost Economic Relations

22 September 2018 News

Bulgaria and Panama will activate their relations, particularly in the sector of high technologies, innovations and tourism. The agreement was reached by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva and the Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado. Minister Zaharieva met with her counterpart, Mrs. Alvarado, in Montreal, Canada, within the framework of the First World Meeting of Female Foreign Ministers.

We are dedicated to transforming Panama in an economic hub for the region. More than 130 multinational corporations already have regional headquarters in our country — we urge you not to see us as a small market of 4 million consumers but as a gateway to the Americas. I am aware of the high potential of our relations with Bulgaria’, Mrs. Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado said. Before her counterpart she presented her country’s plans to attract more tourists through organised cruises crossing two of the world’s oceans through the Panama Canal.

On her part, the Bulgarian top diplomat emphasized that Bulgaria can bring benefits to Panama with its experience in the high-tech sector and the pharmaceutical industry in the context of the country’s plans to evolve as a centre for the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products.
