Voting abroad has ended

At 6 am this morning, voting by Bulgarians abroad in the elections for President and Vice President came to an end in the final sections, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. In the two consular districts, 98 and 118 people voted, respectively.

With these results, the number of Bulgarians who exercised their right to vote abroad comes to 50499.

This is more than 3000 more votes in the Presidential elections abroad than in 2006, when in the first round 47 007 Bulgarian citizens voted outside the country. More than half the votes of the vote abroad were case in North America and elsewhere in Europe.

Most of the voting abroad was in Turkey, 22 418, Spain, 6752, USA – 2467, Cyprus 2071, and Germany 2040.

In these elections, the first organised in terms of the Electoral Code adopted earlier this year, 161 voting sections were set up abroad, in 58 countries. For the first round of voting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs deployed 129 staff abroad.
