Sixth session of the Bulgaria - Baden-Württemberg Joint Commission

A regular session of the Bulgaria - Baden-Württemberg Joint Commission, chaired by Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan Naydenov and the Minister for Federal, European and International Affairs of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg  Peter Friedrichwas held on November 15 and 16 2012.

The co-chairs of the Joint Commission signed a memorandum of activities to form the basis of co-operation between Bulgaria and the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg.

During the session, a plenary session was held, a review of the implementation of the work programme up to now, and negotiations in five working groups to formulate the next programme.

A delegation from the Federal State of Baden-Württembergmet President Rosen Plevneliev, the President of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva, with the chairperson of the Committee on European Affairs and Monitoring of European Funds, Monica Panayotova and the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Nikolina Nikolova.

The Commission includes representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, experts from various ministries and departments of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg.

The activities of the Joint Commission, which was established in 2006, has contributed significantly to the expansion of Bulgarian –German relations in priority areas such as strengthening administrative capacity, support for reforms in justice and home affairs, exchange of experience in the absorption of EU funds and co-operation at municipal level in the framework of the Danube Co-operation, and assistance in policy on the development of small and medium enterprises.
