On 16 March 2026, Ambassador Elizabet Varbanova met with Jacob van Beelen, a Dutchman who has devoted a significant part of his life to Bulgarian culture and traditions. Born in 1948 in a fishing village near The Hague in the Netherlands, he first visited Bulgaria in 1967 during a long journey across Europe and Asia. His encounters with local people and the country’s rich folklore left a lasting impression on him and marked the beginning of his long-standing connection with Bulgaria.

On 12 March 2026, the Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Elisabeth Varbanova, paid a visit to Dordrecht, the oldest city in the Netherlands. During the visit, she held a meeting with the Mayor of the city, Mr. Nanning Mol, as well as with representatives of the Twinning Foundation Doredrecht-Varna, who actively work to develop the ties between the two cities.

On 9 March 2026, the Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Elizabeth Varbanova, together with the liaison officers of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior in the Netherlands, held a working meeting at the headquarters of the Dutch police in The Hague with the Head of the Directorate for International Cooperation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in the process of implementing a large-scale project, coordinated in advance with all responsible institutions in Bulgaria and the EU, including the implementation and launch of a new version of the National Visa Information System (NVIS).

The movies "20 years Dordrecht - Varna: past, present and future" and "A Dose of Happiness" were screened in the Dutch city of Dordrecht commemorating the 20th anniversary of the twinning partnership between the Bulgarian sea capital Varna and one of the oldest Dutch cities Dordrecht.

On the 9th of September, 2021 H.E. Mr. Konstantin Dimitrov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Kingdom of the Netherlands welcomed in the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in The Hague Mr. Arno Brok, King’s Commissioner for Friesland.

With an official ceremony on the 5th September 2021 was celebrated the gradual opening of the new 2021/2022 school year in the four Bulgarian school on the territory of the Netherlands

On the 25th and the 26th of June 2021, the Bulgarian sea capital Varna and the beautiful Dutch city of Dordrecht celebrated the 20th anniversary of the establishment of their twinning partnership with a joint Friendship Concert. The event was organized in close cooperation of the Municipality of Varna, the Municipality of Dordrecht, the Twinning Foundation "Dodrecht - Varna", the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Republic of Bulgaria.
