On the National Day of the Republic of Bulgaria - March 3, the Bulgarian Embassy in Canada held a flag-raising ceremony before the Ottawa City Hall. Representatives of the Bulgarian community, local citizens, federal MPs and senators attended the event. The ceremony was held with the kind hospitality of the City of Ottawa.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in the process of implementing a large-scale project, coordinated in advance with all responsible institutions in Bulgaria and the EU, including the implementation and launch of a new version of the National Visa Information System (NVIS).

Due to technical reasons, the Consular Office at the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Ottawa will temporarily suspend the following consular services: From August 9 to August 18, 2024, no visa applications will be accepted; From August 10 to August 18, 2024, applications for Bulgarian Identity Documents will not be accepted, except for Temporary Passports in urgent cases; From August 10 to August 18, 2024, applications for certification of signatures and legalization of documents will not be accepted, except in urgent cases. The Bulgarian folklore group "Rodina" led by Ms. Rayna Stamatova and the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Ottawa represented our country during the annual EU Cultural Fair, which took place in Lansdowne Park in the Canadian capital on July 13, 2024. The event was attended by Ms. Stella Kostova, chair of the National Capital Region Bulgarian Community.
