The award-winning film “Because I Love Bad Weather” (2024) by Bulgarian film director and screenwriter Yana Lekarska is now available for online watching in Canada from December 1 to December 15, 2024, as part of the online edition of the European Union Film Festival.

The Bulgarian director and screenwriter Yana Lekarska will present her award-winning film "Because I Love Bad Weather" (2024) at the European Union Film Festival in Ottawa on November 16, and in Toronto on November 21. The trailer of the film is available here.

Commissioning of a new version of the National Visa Information System
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in the process of implementing a large-scale project, coordinated in advance with all responsible institutions in Bulgaria and the EU, including the implementation and launch of a new version of the National Visa Information System (NVIS).

Temporary suspension of consular services by the Consular Office at the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Ottawa due to technical reasons
Due to technical reasons, the Consular Office at the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Ottawa will temporarily suspend the following consular services:
From August 9 to August 18, 2024, no visa applications will be accepted;
From August 10 to August 18, 2024, applications for Bulgarian Identity Documents will not be accepted, except for Temporary Passports in urgent cases;
From August 10 to August 18, 2024, applications for certification of signatures and legalization of documents will not be accepted, except in urgent cases.

The folklore group "Rodina" and the Embassy of Bulgaria in Ottawa represented our country at the EU Cultural Fair in the Canadian capital on July 13
The Bulgarian folklore group "Rodina" led by Ms. Rayna Stamatova and the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Ottawa represented our country during the annual EU Cultural Fair, which took place in Lansdowne Park in the Canadian capital on July 13, 2024. The event was attended by Ms. Stella Kostova, chair of the National Capital Region Bulgarian Community.

The Bulgarian folk ensemble "Rodina" led by Ms. Rayna Stamatova will represent our country during the annual EU Cultural Fair, which will be held in Lansdowne Park in Ottawa on July 13, 2024.

Working visit to GDLS
On May 29, 2024, H.E. Plamen Georgiev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Canada, and Col. Nikolay Nikolov, Defense Attaché of the Republic of Bulgaria with accreditation for Canada, paid a working visit to the production facilities of "General Dynamics Land Systems - Canada". The company invited the Bulgarian delegation to provide insights on the schedule of the commitments of the former to equip the Bulgarian Land Forces with modern technology. The exchange focused on the possibilities for long-term cooperation and on strengthening the security of the Eastern flank of NATO, the quality of the equipment that will be delivered to the Bulgarian army, and the deadlines for the completion of the project. The Bulgarian delegation was familiarized with the production cycle, the technological capacity of GDLS, as well as the capabilities of its products through a field test.
