Working visit to GDLS
On May 29, 2024, H.E. Plamen Georgiev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Canada, and Col. Nikolay Nikolov, Defense Attaché of the Republic of Bulgaria with accreditation for Canada, paid a working visit to the production facilities of "General Dynamics Land Systems - Canada". The company invited the Bulgarian delegation to provide insights on the schedule of the commitments of the former to equip the Bulgarian Land Forces with modern technology. The exchange focused on the possibilities for long-term cooperation and on strengthening the security of the Eastern flank of NATO, the quality of the equipment that will be delivered to the Bulgarian army, and the deadlines for the completion of the project. The Bulgarian delegation was familiarized with the production cycle, the technological capacity of GDLS, as well as the capabilities of its products through a field test.

Mayor of Ottawa proclaims 24 of May 2024 as Bulgarian Cultural Heritage Day
On May 23, 2024, the Mayor of City of Ottawa Mr. Mark Sutcliffe proclaimed 24 May 2024 as Bulgarian Cultural Heritage Day in the Canadian capital. The proclamation was launched thanks to the efforts of the National Capital Region Bulgarian Community and the kind assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Ottawa.

The Bulgarian cartoon movie "Shell in Love" (2021) by the director Svilen Dimitrov will be screened on May 4, 2024, after 4 PM local time at the Ottawa Art Gallery, Arts Court Theater (Daly Avenue 2).

Ambassador Plamen Georgiev co-authored an article in the major Canadian newspaper "Hill Times" together with the ambassadors of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia in Ottawa on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the accession of these countries to NATO.

Academic discussion at Carleton University on the regional and global consequences of the war in Ukraine concerning the countries of Eastern Europe
On March 25, 2024 a panel discussion "Two years in. Analyzing the Regional implications of the Russian War in Ukraine” was launched by the Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies at Carleton University in Ottawa. The academic meeting was organized by the Head of the University's Institute Mrs. Crina Viju-Miljusevic, PhD., Director and Associate Professor, Jean Monnet Chair EU External Relations.

On January 11, 2024 the Apostille Convention (Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents) comes into effect for Canada. The Republic of Bulgaria is a party of the Apostille Convention and applies its provisions.
