On 29 September 2021 the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Islamabad officially joined EUNIC Cluster in Pakistan. The membership mandate has been granted to the Embassy by the State Institute for Culture at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria in its capacity as full member of EUNIC.

The Ambassador of Bulgaria in Islamabad Irena Gancheva discussed the prospects of strengthening and expanding the bilateral trade and economic cooperation at a meeting with the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs of Pakistan Omar Ayub Khan, which took place on 14 July 2021.

Ambassador Irena Gancheva met with the Federal Minister for Education, Professional Training and Cultural Heritage of Pakistan Shafqat Mahmood to exchange views on the ways to further develop and expand the bilateral ties in the areas of educational exchange and culture

On 6 July 2021 the Ambassador of Bulgaria in Islamabad Irena Gancheva held a meeting with the Federal Minister for Science and Technology of Pakistan Shibli Faraz to discuss the opportunities for bilateral cooperation in scientific areas of mutual interest, including energy resources and energy efficient technologies, information and communication systems, environment protection, biotechnology, etc.

The Bulgarian Ambassador in Islamabad Mrs. Irena Gancheva visited the National Library of Pakistan and had a very productive discussion with the Director General of the Library Mr. Ashraf Khan on the ways to expand the cooperation with the National Library of Bulgaria “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”.

On May 20th, 2021 the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Ms. Irena Gancheva presented copies of her Letters of Credence to DG Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Mr. Hassan Afzal Khan.
