On August 1st, 2024 Ambassador Irena Gancheva held a meeting with Mr. Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training of Pakistan, to discuss the opportunities for cooperation in the field of higher education and science between Bulgaria and Pakistan. Both sides agreed to work towards the conclusion of an agreement for educational and scientific exchange that will contribute to utilizing the existing potential in these areas based on the common interest of the two countries.

On 6th of June 2024 the Ambassador of Bulgaria in Islamabad Ms. Irena Gancheva held a meeting with the Managing Director of the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) Mr. Muhammad Asim Khichi. During their conversation both sides underlined the importance of media in society, and the responsibility of official mass media to provide true and proofread facts, as well as to fight disinformation and fake news. In this context the Ambassador and APP Managing Director explored ways for enhancing the cooperation between the official Bulgarian News Agency BTA and APP, including by signing a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding that would contribute positively to raising the popularity, increasing the mutual knowledge and strengthening the relations between Bulgaria and Pakistan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, through the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, announces a call for project proposals to be implemented under the Official Development Aid of the Republic of Bulgaria in 2025.

The Third European Film Festival (EUFF) in Pakistan commenced on 15 May 2024 at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) in Islamabad. The first screenings during the launch event included a video about the EU and its activities in Pakistan, followed by the Bulgarian short fiction film “Omelette” directed by Nadejda Koseva and written by Georgi Gospodinov.

On 25 November 2023 the Embassy of Bulgaria in Islamabad hosted a Gala Charity event in support of the Lighthouse – a project aimed at providing a safe home, food, healthcare and education to orphaned children in Pakistan.

On 4 August 2023 the Embassy of Bulgaria in Islamabad hosted a meeting with the successful female mountain climber Silvia Azdreeva who made history by becoming the first Bulgarian woman to scale K2 (8 611 m) in Pakistan – the second-highest and one of the most difficult and dangerous peaks in the world. Silvia Azdreeva reached the summit of K2 on 27 July 2023.

On 16 May 2023 Ambassador Irena Gancheva met with Ms. Fareena Mazhar, Secretary, National Heritage and Culture Division of the Federal Government of Pakistan.
