His Excellency Mr. Rumen Alexandrov paid an official visit to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria H.E. Mr. Rumen Alexandrov visited the ICC on the 15th of February 2017. He had a formal meeting with the President of the Court Mrs. Silvia Fernandez de Gurmendi, the Chief Prosecutor Mrs. Fatou Bensouda and the Registrar Mr. Herman von Hebel. The representatives of the Court introduced the Ambassador to the work of the ICC, as they stressed on the progress achieved in 2016 mainly in the newly taken reforms for a speedy and efficient court trials and the enlargement of the activity of the Prosecutor’s Office. 
 
During the meeting Ambassador Alexandrov noted the engagement of our country in the international criminal justice while emphasizing that Bulgaria is one of the sixty countries who first ratified the Rome Statute. What was mentioned further during the meeting was the good cooperation throughout the years and an excellent evaluation was given to the work and the professionalism of the Bulgarian Judge Professor Ekaterina Trendafilova in the period of 2006-2015.
