Ambassador Rumen Alexandrov was an official guest of the opening events on the occasion of the beginning of the 2019/2020 school year in the Bulgarian schools in the Netherlands. On September 7, 2019 he participated in the celebrations at the Bulgarian School "St. St. Cyril and Methodius " in The Hague, and on September 15, 2019 – at First Bulgarian School ABC in Amsterdam. Each of these two schools enrolled more than 100 Bulgarian students in different age groups this year.

In his welcome speech Ambassador Alexandrov expressed his gratitude for the growing number of Bulgarian children studying in Bulgarian schools in the Netherlands. He also expressed the need for further joint efforts in this regard, given the steadily increasing number of newborn children of Bulgarian origin in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Ambassador Alexandrov wished the students lots of luck, success and thrive for knowledge, and expressed special gratitude to the parents, the school managers and the teachers for their commitment and desire to cultivate a love for the Bulgarian language, traditions and culture with their children, albeit from the long distance to our homeland.
