Divine Liturgy in the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in New York

On the day of the Nativity of Christ, the Holy Liturgy was celebrated in the Bulgarian Orthodox Church "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" in New York by His Eminence Joseph, Metropolitan of the USA, Canada and Australia. The Vicar Bishop Kliment, who arrived in New York from Mount Athos a few days ago, also took part in the service.

Jazz Events in New York

In recent days, the public in New York had the opportunity to enjoy several performances by Bulgarian jazz musicians: On December 6, Nikola Gruev – Kotarashki, together with Dan Brantigan, a world-renowned trumpeter and Grammy nominee, gave a concert at the Bulgarian bar “Mehanata” in Manhattan, which was attended by many representatives of the Bulgarian community and their friends. The work of Nikola Gruev – Kotarashki, a former architect and current musician, combines original recordings with electronic music, hip-hop, jazz and other musical genres. Kotarashki’s debut album “Opa Hey” stayed among the most sought-after albums for five months and reached third place in the European World Music chart.

Meeting on the Development of the Bulgarian Startup Ecosystem at the Consulate General in New York

The Bulgarian Consulate General in New York hosted an event, dedicated to the development of the Bulgarian startup ecosystem and entrepreneurial spirit. It was co-organized with Endeavor and Future Unicorns Accelerator / Bulgaria Innovation Hub, Inc. and attended by dozens of representatives of the Bulgarian community in and outside of New York, who once again gathered at the Consulate General to learn more about entrepreneurial activities in Bulgaria and investment opportunities in innovative projects.

Participation of the Consulate General of Bulgaria in the International Food Fest

On November 14, 2024, the traditional International Food Fest, organized by the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York, took place. For the third consecutive year, the Bulgarian Consulate General took part in the event, which represented 16 countries from Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia and was attended by about 700 guests, including representatives from diplomatic circles and local authorities. The guests tasted the delicious dishes of a Bulgarian restaurateur (Ma Mma Mila) and a high-quality Bulgarian wine, while enjoying Bulgarian folk dances performed by the folklore ensemble "Gorana dance" led by Elissaveta Yordanova.

Exhibition and concert at the Consulate General in New York on the occasion of the Bulgarian National Revival Day

The Consulate General New York celebrated the Bulgarian National Revival Day with the exhibition "Emotional Heritage", an interdisciplinary project with the special participation of the violinist Dr. Blagomira Lipari and the artist Kina Bagovska. The project presents the unique Bulgarian folk motifs and uneven rhythms, combined with classical traditions in art.

An event on development of the Bulgarian startup ecosystem and entrepreneurial spirit, took place at the Consulate General in New York. It was organized by representatives of The Bridge and LAUNCHub Ventures and brought together dozens of representatives of the Bulgarian community in New York and the surrounding area. The participants were interested in learning more about entrepreneurial activities and investment opportunities in Bulgaria. Nikola Likov and Alexandra Todorova, representing the organizers, made intriguing presentations to address the interests of the Bulgarian community in New York. Both are young and very successful Bulgarians who work towards identifying and supporting promising Bulgarian start-ups.

Commemoration in New York of the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Israel

The Bulgarian Consul General in New York, Angel Angelov, took part in the commemoration of the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks by Hamas against Israel, which took place in Park East Synagogue. About 600 people attended the Jewish temple. During the approximately two-hour ceremony, statements were made by the Israeli Consul General, the senior rabbi of the synagogue, the executive director of the Israel-American Council, as well as families directly affected by the attacks. There was also a musical program, and the ceremony was preceded by the presentation of an exhibition dedicated to the tragedy. The main organizers were the Consul General of Israel and the Israeli-American Council, who partnered with the Israeli Ministry of Defense and the La'Aretz Foundation.
