Participation of the Consul General in New York as Guest Speaker at the Rotary Club of New York
On 24 March this year, the Consul General of Bulgaria in New York, Angel Angelov, was invited to speak at the legendary Rotary Club of New York No. 6—one of the oldest and most prestigious Rotary clubs in the world. The invitation came in the context of his serving, for a third consecutive year, in the elected position of Vice President of the century-old Society of Foreign Consuls in New York.

Holding an Event at the Consulate General in New York to Mark the 83rd Anniversary of the Rescue of the Bulgarian Jews
On 12 March 2026, an event was held at the Consulate General of Bulgaria in New York, organized jointly with the American Jewish Committee (AJC), to mark the 83rd anniversary of the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews. The event was titled: “Memory, Action, and Prevention: Bulgaria’s Commitment to Combating Antisemitism in the Broader Transatlantic Context.” It focused on Bulgaria’s contemporary policies to counter antisemitism, inspired by the historical memory of the rescue of nearly 50,000 Bulgarian Jews during the Second World War. The discussion emphasized the link between historical memory, education, and prevention, as well as the importance of international cooperation within the broader transatlantic context. The program included opening remarks, keynote presentations, a moderated discussion, a cultural segment, and a reception.

Ceremony for raising the Ukrainian flag to mark the 4th anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine
On March 6, 2026, the Consulate General of Ukraine in New York held a flag-raising ceremony at Bowling Green, located at the "Charging Bull" site in Lower Manhattan. The event was originally scheduled for February 24 to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation however, due to severe weather conditions, the ceremony was rescheduled for early March.

Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York at the Consulate General in New York
The Consul General of Bulgaria in New York, Angel Angelov, in his capacity as Vice President and member of the Executive Committee of the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York, hosted its monthly working meeting.
During the meeting, the Consuls General discussed various initiatives of the Society, as well as opportunities to strengthen cooperation with local authorities in the U.S. Northeast.
Guests had the opportunity to sample different varieties of traditional Bulgarian banitsa and homemade rakia from the Dobruja region. They also received a souvenir mouskal containing a rose-oil perfume essence, learning that Bulgaria is the world’s leading producer and exporter of rose oil.

On October 11, 2025, the Consul General of Bulgaria in New York, Mr. Angel Angelov, took part in a joint event of the Bulgarian Schools “Gergana” (New York) and “St. Kliment Ohridski” (Washington, D.C.). The gathering was held at the premises used by the Bulgarian school in Washington.

On May 8, the Consulate General of Bulgaria in New York hosted the first event in a new series focused on Bulgarian entrepreneurship. Special guest Ivan Mihaylov, Chief Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria, spoke about the country's recent economic progress and the role of the Bulgarian diaspora in driving innovation, investment, and strategic positioning in key sectors like energy and defense.

Presentation in New York of the William Gladstone Library and Scholarships for Bulgarian Researchers
About two weeks ago, during the days when Bulgaria was commemorating the 148th anniversary of the outbreak of the April Uprising, the Bulgarian Consul General in New York, Angel Angelov, received an invitation from Patrick Derham, chairman of the board of trustees of the William Gladstone Library, to participate in a presentation in New York about the library dedicated to the renowned four-time British Prime Minister. The library serves as a model for American presidential libraries. The invitation explicitly referenced Gladstone’s connection to Bulgaria and expressed an intention to organize a presentation of the library in Bulgaria.

Meetings of the Consul General in New York with the Bulgarian Community on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts
From March 21-23, the Consul General of Bulgaria in New York, Angel Angelov, visited the Bulgarian community on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. The occasion was an invitation extended to him to participate in celebrations and events marking the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Bulgarian Educational Center in Nantucket.
