Consul General of Bulgaria in New York Attends Congressional Breakfast, organized by Jewish Community Relations Council of New York

06 February 2025 News

For the third consecutive year the Bulgarian Consul General in New York Angel Angelov was honored to be among the select few diplomats invited to attend the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York Congressional Breakfast. He received the invitation from the AJC New York, a leading member organization of the JCRC and close partner of the Consulate General of Bulgaria in New York.

The event centered on the ongoing plight of the hostages kidnapped by Hamas, who remain in captivity, and the troubling increase of antisemitism in the U.S., particularly on university campuses.

Speakers at the event emphasized the unwavering support of the United States for Israel, with some also advocating for a two-state solution based on the peaceful coexistence of both a Jewish state and a Palestinian state.

The three-hour event, held in a packed room, offered a valuable opportunity for engagement between Congressional representatives, Jewish community leaders, and diplomats. Attendees included one senator and ten members of the House of Representatives from New York. Keynote speakers included Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, and Tsach Saar, Deputy Consul General of Israel.

The Consul General of Bulgaria in New York wore on his lapel, along with the Bulgarian flag, the yellow ribbon, which has become a symbol of sympathy with the fate of the hostages.
