15 April 2025 News

Ambassador Tihomir Stoytchev met with Dame Karen Bradley, DBE, MP for Staffordshire Moorlands at the UK Parliament and Chair of the Home Affairs Committee. She also serves as Chair of the APPG on Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery.

Both sides noted the excellent level of cooperation between the two countries in the area of home affairs. Bulgaria remains a key partner of the United Kingdom in preventing illegal migration and disrupting the supply chains used for small boat deliveries. The UK's contribution to increasing the capacity of Bulgarian border control through the donation of vehicles, drones, and thermal imaging cameras was also emphasised.

MP Bradley presented the work of the APPG on Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery. The UK is the first country in the world to enact legislation specifically aimed at tackling modern slavery. The task of the parliamentary group is to ensure that this law is implemented effectively.

At the end of the meeting, both interlocutors reaffirmed their shared desire to deepen cooperation and maintain an active bilateral political dialogue.
