In celebration of International Women's Day, on March 5 Ambassador Natalia Uzunova participated as a keynote speaker at a conference hosted by the Comité Diplomatique of the Université Libre de Bruxelles - ULB, on the important subject of “Women’s roles in International Affairs. Among the other keynote speakers, were Ambassador Aiga Liepina, Ambassador of Latvia to Belgium, Ms Véronique Joosten, Director of the Human Rights and Democracy Department at the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ms Christina Kattami, Head of the MFF team of the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the European Union.

The three Bulgarian diplomatic missions in Brussels celebrated together the National Day of the Republic of Bulgaria
On the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Bulgaria, March 3, 2026, a joint reception was held at the Hôtel de Ville of the municipality of Saint-Gilles in Brussels, organized by the three Bulgarian diplomatic missions in Brussels – the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Bulgaria to the EU, and the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Bulgaria to NATO.
The reception was hosted by Natalia Uzunova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Ambassador Rumen Alexandrov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to the EU, and Ambassador Nikolay Milkov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to NATO. In their joint address, the hosts noted the historical significance of Bulgaria's Liberation. They also highlighted the excellent cooperation and long-standing friendship between Bulgaria and Belgium, based on common values and a shared vision for Europe, as well as on partnership within the EU and NATO.

Fourth Edition of the Martenitsa Festival in Brussels: Celebrating Shared Traditions and Cultural Diversity
On 22 February 2026, the fourth edition of the Martenitsa Festival was held in Brussels at the Marble Hall of the Université libre de Bruxelles. The festival is an international cultural project celebrating the traditions associated with 1 March as a symbol of spring, renewal, and the shared intangible cultural heritage of South-Eastern Europe.

The Bulgarian community in Brussels paid tribute to the memory of Vasil Levski, the Apostle of Freedom
Members of the Bulgarian community, alongside pupils from Bulgarian schools in Brussels, their parents, and teachers, gathered to pay tribute to Levski’s enduring contribution to Bulgaria’s struggle for freedom and national awakening.
As a sign of respect and remembrance, floral tributes were laid at the bas-relief of Vasil Levski, located on the building of the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Brussels.

Presentation of the letters of credence to the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Kingdom of Belgium
On February 4, 2026, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Kingdom of Belgium, Ms. Natalia Uzunova, presented her credentials to His Majesty Philippe, King of the Belgians. The solemn ceremony took place at the Royal Palace in Brussels. During the audience, a protocol conversation was held in private. The Bulgarian ambassador thanked Belgium for its support for the country's path to joining the Eurozone and Schengen. She stated her intention to work for intensifying the political dialogue and deepening further the bilateral cooperation. It was emphasized that the traditionally good economic relations between Bulgaria and Belgium provide a good basis in this respect. The excellent cooperation between the two countries in the field of defence was also highlighted.

Festive Piano Concert at the Bulgarian Embassy in Brussels
On December 5, 2025, the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Brussels hosted a piano concert featuring the Bulgarian pianist Antonia Kiril Evgenieva. The event brought together representatives of the Bulgarian community in Belgium, foreign guests, diplomats, and admirers of the classical music. The audience highly appreciated the performances and the selected program, and the festive atmosphere marked the beginning of the upcoming holiday season.

Writer Antonia Apostolova Presented Her New Novel to the Bulgarian Community in Belgium
On 14 November 2025, the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Brussels hosted an inspiring literary evening with Bulgarian writer Antonia Apostolova, who presented her latest novel “Pain Comes Later” (Janet 45 Publishing, 2025).
The discussion was moderated by Rada Gankova – translator and founder of the literary club “Notes Under the Pillow” in Brussels.
Antonia Apostolova, author of four books and recipient of numerous prestigious literary awards, is known as a writer, editor, reviewer and literary consultant. She is also the creator of the literary website “Literary Conversations”.

Screening of “MADE IN EU” and Showcase of Contemporary Bulgarian Cinema at the CinEast Festival in Luxembourg
On 19 October 2025, with a full house at CINÉMATHÈQUE in Luxembourg, the Bulgarian film “MADE IN EU” directed by Stefan Komandarev and produced by Katya Trichkova was screened. The screening was part of the 18th edition of the CinEast film festival, which annually showcases contemporary film productions from Central and Eastern European countries.

Concert of the Singers’ Society “Angel Boukoreshtliev” as Part of the Cultural Program of the Embassy of Bulgaria in Brussels
At the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Brussels, on 2 October 2025, in the solemn atmosphere of the St. Michel College – Église, a concert of the Singers’ Society “Angel Boukoreshtliev” from Plovdiv took place – the oldest mixed choir in Bulgaria and one of the pioneering choral ensembles in the history of Bulgarian choral art.
