On May 10, the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Brussels once again took an active part in the celebration of Europe Day in Luxembourg.
The event was organized by the European Commission Representation in Luxembourg, in cooperation with the Municipality of Echternach, the Classical Lyceum of Echternach, the Government of Luxembourg, and the European Parliament.
Set in the courtyard of the Abbey of Echternach, the “European Village” featured informational stands representing all EU Member States, alongside various European institutions and civil society organizations.
More than 5,000 visitors enjoyed a vibrant program of cultural and musical performances, food tastings, and culinary delights that showcased Europe’s rich cultural and gastronomic diversity.
This year’s edition marked two significant anniversaries – the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration and the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Schengen Agreement.
The official opening ceremony was attended by His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, the President of the Chamber of Deputies Claude Wiseler, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Xavier Bettel, representatives of the European Commission, and other high-ranking officials. Following the ceremony, the Grand Duke visited all national stands, including the Bulgarian one.
Throughout the day, the Bulgarian stand drew numerous visitors interested in learning more about the country’s natural attractions and diverse tourism opportunities.
Bulgaria was represented through a wide selection of promotional brochures and informational materials provided by the Ministry of Tourism, highlighting the country's rich natural heritage and the wide array of tourism experiences it offers – including cultural and religious tourism, spa and wellness retreats, adventure and eco-tourism, rural escapes, and gastronomic tours featuring traditional Bulgarian cuisine and wine.
Guests at the Bulgarian stand enjoyed tastings of traditional Bulgarian wines and received rose-scented souvenirs – a symbol of Bulgaria’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Bulgaria’s participation in Europe Day in Luxembourg offered yet another opportunity to present the country in an engaging and meaningful way.
Among the most memorable highlights were the warm interactions with visitors, their genuine curiosity, and the sincere interest in Bulgaria as a destination with a rich history and culture, diverse landscapes, and an authentic atmosphere that invites exploration.
