Ambassador Gergana Karadjova participated in the General Debate of the UNICEF Executive Board

During the First Regular Session, Ambassador Karadjova reaffirmed Bulgaria’s strong commitment to UNICEF and its key role in supporting children worldwide. She highlighted the growing challenge resulting from the decline in traditional humanitarian and development funding and underscored the need for flexible and predictable financing to enable UNICEF to respond effectively to children’s needs, particularly in emergency situations. Ambassador Karadjova also noted the important role of National Committees, diversified partnerships, and the continued contributions of states.
Bulgaria welcomed the operationalization of the UNICEF Strategic Plan for 2026–2029, as well as efforts to align strategic priorities with organizational reforms, including through the Future Focus Initiative and the establishment of Centres of Excellence.
Ambassador Karadjova emphasized Bulgaria’s support for UNICEF’s life-saving humanitarian action in complex crises and expressed readiness to further deepen cooperation in support of children’s rights and well-being.
Bulgaria remains a committed and reliable partner of UNICEF.
