Ambassador Tihomir Stoytchev met with the Speaker of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom The Rt Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP at the Palace of Westminster. On this occasion, the Bulgarian National Flag was raised in front of the Houses of Parliament.

Both host and guest expressed their satisfaction with the excellent relations between the two countries, based on a long history of diplomatic relations and shared values. Attention was drawn to the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and the UK signed in October 2023 ‑ an important step towards the deepening of the post-Brexit cooperation both bilaterally and within the framework of the EU.

During the conversation, the excellent cooperation at various levels in the areas of security, defense, home affairs, the fight against illegal migration, trade, innovations, new technologies, and tourism was also discussed. Special attention was paid to the numerous Bulgarian Community in the United Kingdom and its role as a bridge linking the two countries.

Ambassador Stoytchev noted our country's interest in establishing an All-Party Parliamentary Group on Bulgaria in the UK Parliament. The ways to strengthen parliamentary cooperation were also discussed, including through the exchange of visits.
