The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria welcomes the decision by the Government of the Republic of South Africa to exempt ordinary passport holders of the Republic of Bulgaria from the requirements to obtain port of entry visa, for a period not exceeding 90 days.

We would like to express our gratitude to the competent authority – the Department of Home Affairs as well as to the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa for this decision, which reaffirms the traditionally friendly relations and the deepening cooperation between our two countries.
We are confident that the lifting of visa requirements for short-term stays will facilitate tourism and trade exchanges between Bulgaria and South Africa, and will contribute to further accelerating the bilateral ties.
This success was also achieved thanks to the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Embassy in Pretoria and their active engagement with the South African side.
