The Bulgarian Embassy in Beirut congratulates its compatriots and the Lebanese citizens related to Bulgaria - through education, family and/or business - with the following message, on the occasion of September 6, the Day of the Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria with Eastern Rumelia in 1885.

The Unification…!!!

Just one word says so much about the feat, the courage, the endless patriotism and readiness for self-sacrifice of our ancestors who revived Bulgaria - our revivalists, the rebels of the April 20 Uprising, the Volunteer Freedom Fighters of Shipka, the heroes of the Balkan Wars.

They have hardly lived in a national and international environment easier to understand and digest than the cotemporary one. However, they do not bow their heads to the desire of the great powers to dispose of the fate of our Fatherland, which managed to escape from the shackles of the yoke.

Unification… isn’t this the main task for us, today’s generations? Shouldn’t this be the highest, the sacred and the one and only symbol-belief for us – the successors of those who did not give up giving everything for the Fatherland and thanks to whom today’s Bulgaria exists.

Every year, the days from September 6th, the Unification Day, to September 22nd, the Independence Day, are another occasion to look back with pride at our past and to take a critical look at ourselves.

September 6, 1885. Let us remember that Bulgaria can!
