A Project Selection Procedure under the Program to Support Bulgarian Media and Organizations Abroad in Countering Disinformation Related to Bulgaria’s Accession to the Eurozone

The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Brussels announces the launch of a project selection procedure under the Program to Support Bulgarian Media and Organizations Abroad in Countering Disinformation Related to Bulgaria’s Accession to the Eurozone.

As part of the implementation of the Communication Strategy for raising awareness and ensuring transparency of the process of adopting the euro, the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Brussels is launching a call for project proposals under a special program aimed at Bulgarian media and organizations abroad. The program is designed to promote informed and objective coverage of Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone and to counter the spread of fake news and disinformation.

Program Objectives
The main objective of the program is to support Bulgarian media and organizations abroad in informing compatriots about Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone by promoting objective coverage, raising awareness about the euro adoption process, countering disinformation, and providing financial support to Bulgarian media in countries with Bulgarian communities.

Specific objectives:

  • Providing accessible and objective coverage of the topic of the euro and its benefits;
  • Enhancing media literacy among Bulgarians abroad to recognize and counter disinformation;
  • Presenting the advantages of adopting the euro;
  • Building resilience against external information manipulation and interference.

Who Can Apply?
Project proposals may be submitted by Bulgarian media and organizations of the Bulgarian community operating outside Bulgaria, which produce content in Bulgarian and work in the interest of the Bulgarian diaspora.
The following are not eligible: commercial companies and organizations that do not work with Bulgarian communities or do not produce content in Bulgarian.

Eligible Activities

  • Creation and dissemination of informational content (including visual materials, graphics, podcasts, videos, and audio products) aimed at providing an objective and accessible presentation of the process of Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone and the benefits of adopting the euro.
  • Production of media content, including interviews with experts in the fields of finance and economics – financiers, bankers, representatives of analytical centers (think tanks), local businesses, public figures, experts, and other professionals relevant to the topic.
  • When developing content, beneficiaries should make use of the available information and communication resources from the official euro website – https://evroto.bg/, as well as from the social media profiles:

Expected Results

  • Increased awareness among Bulgarian communities abroad about the process of Bulgaria’s eurozone accession and the practical aspects of introducing the euro.
  • Limiting the spread and impact of fake news and disinformation through a stronger presence of reliable media content in the information environment, including online platforms and social networks.
  • Strengthening the capacity of Bulgarian media and organizations abroad to create quality content related to the euro and European integration, and engaging them in informing local communities.
  • Enhanced resilience of Bulgarian communities abroad to external information interference and manipulation, through improved media literacy and critical thinking regarding information sources.

Funding and Deadlines
The maximum funding per project is up to 10,000 BGN, with 70% of the funds provided in advance and the remaining 30% upon completion and reporting of the project. The final deadline for project implementation is December 2025.

Application Procedure
Applicants must submit a completed application form (Annex No. 1) and a budget plan (Annex No. 2) in Bulgarian and in hard copy to the following address:

The deadline for submission of documents is 08 August 2025.
