Meeting of the Ambassador of Bulgaria in Yerevan with the Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia

On February 17, 2022, at the initiative of the Bulgarian side, the Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Armenia Kalin Vassilev Anastasov met with the Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturian.

Welcoming the ambassador, Minister Vahagn Khachaturian praised the strong historical ties and friendly relations between the two countries, emphasizing that there is great potential for deepening cooperation with Bulgaria in the field of high technologies and, in particular, within the Armenian-Bulgarian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, whose co-chair on the Armenian side is the minister.

Expressing gratitude for the meeting, Ambassador Anastasov also highlighted the potential of opportunities for expanding economic cooperation, emphasizing that he supports the Armenian position on the unrealized opportunities for its development. The ambassador noted that in Bulgaria and Armenia there are well-developed ecosystems of companies working in the field of high technology, noting that the sector in both countries is developing with great dynamism. Attracting specialists in the IT sector, who with their experience, knowledges and through the potential of infrastructure to strengthen the positions of both countries globally is of particular importance for both Bulgaria and Armenia. In this context, the signed agreement on labor migration, providing opportunities for easier access to the labor market in the two countries, will be of mutual benefit to our economies.

During the meeting the parties agreed that the sharing of Bulgaria's experience in the field of introduction of electronic services, optimization of postal and courier services, traditions and successes in the field of space research, food production and modules for the space industry and experience accumulated in the implementation of projects funded by EU programs, could be useful for Armenia.

Minister Khachaturian and Ambassador Anastasov also touched the possibilities for co - operation within the framework of Yerevan Engineering City, which is currently under construction, and Bulgarian research companies. Ideas for joint business and technological events, exchange of good practices and the implementation of youth programs for engineering laboratories and creative centers, as well as opportunities for cooperation in the field of telecommunications and transport connectivity were also discussed.

At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Anastasov invited Minister Khachaturian to take part in the upcoming celebration of the Bulgarian national holiday March 3 and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Armenia, which the embassy will organize at the 131st Peyo Yavorov School in Yerevan. The invitation was accepted with satisfaction and gratitude, and Minister Khachaturian added that he was ready to support all initiatives and events that promote and build on the good interstate relations between Armenia and Bulgaria.
