From June 25 to June 27, 2023 the 67^th edition of the prestigious Summer Fancy Food Show took place in the Javits Center in Manhattan, New York. It is the largest specialty food show in North America, with a focus on presenting food products that impress with their quality, taste and uniqueness. The show gives manufacturers the opportunity to present their products to buyers from the US, Canada, Europe and Asia.

In recent months the Consul General Mr. Angel Angelov has been in contact with several of the Bulgarian manufacturers represented at the show and was invited to visit it. With their assistance he had been registered for participation.

The Consul General Mr. Angel Angelov visited the Bulgarian stands and got acquainted with the products displayed and the intentions of their producers. A wide range of high-quality Bulgarian food products were presented, incl. honey, cereals, cheeses, sausages, juices, sweets and many others. Among the Bulgarian producers represented at the show were "Bulgarian Organic Foods", "Magic Flame Ltd.", "Balkanica USA", "Domain Trifonoff", "Rhodopeia-Belev EOOD", " Pastrorog Cheese - Taste of Nature", "Filippopolis", "Deroni" ", "Dairy Products" etc.

The show was also visited by representatives of Bulgarian grocery stores in the US, such as "Malincho" and “Euro Market”, in order to familiarize themselves with the offered Bulgarian products.

The participation in the show of some of the companies ("Bulgarian Organic Foods", "Domain Trifonoff", "Rodopeia-Belev EOOD", "Pastrogor Cheese - Taste of Nature", "Filipopolis", "Dairy Products", etc.) was made possible with the financial support for European projects such as "European Quality Basket", "Gold Quality PDO/PGI" and "European Unique Cheeses". Under those projects Bulgarian manufacturers cooperate with companies from Greece, Cyprus and Romania. Promotional events for the manufacturers to present their products are also organized with the EU financial support.

The Consul General took part in a promotional event on June 26 at Kellari Taverna Restaurant in New York, together with distributors, journalists and professional culinary and wine connoisseurs. The event was organized jointly with Cypriot dairy producers. On the part of Bulgaria, a brief presentation was made by Vladislav Mihailov, Chairman of the Board of the "National Association of Dairy Processors". The guests were introduced to the unique qualities of Bulgarian cheeses and yellow cheeses and the strict standards observed during their production. The Consul General expressed his appreciation for the presentation of Bulgarian dairy products in the US, and emphasized their qualities.

The show and the side events provided a platform for professionals in the food industry and presented an opportunity to Bulgarian producers and distributors of food products to establish business contacts, to showcase high-quality and authentic Bulgarian products and to get inspiration and new ideas for their businesses.

In their talks the consul general and the Bulgarian producers discussed the opportunities for more active promotion of national food production in the US.
