Brexit Information Meeting for Bulgarians in the UK

The Bulgarian Embassy in London, together with the UK Government's Department for Exiting the EU and the Home Office, organised a joint Information meeting for Bulgarian citizens in the United Kingdom, which took place on November 27th, 2018.
Representing the UK government, Robin Walker, Parliamentary Undersecretary at DExEU and Ms. Lynne Charles, DHM at the UK Embassy in Sofia addressed the guests. On the Bulgarian side, Ms. Zornitsa Rusinova, Deputy-Minister of Labour and Social Policy, as well as Ambassador Konstantin Dimitrov welcomed the attendees.
The event’s core purpose was to acquaint the Bulgarian citizens with the steps that are to be taken in order for them to maintain their rights after the UK's exit from the European Union. In that context, experts from the UK Home Office gave a thorough presentation of the application procedure for acquiring Settled Status, which will be applicable for all Bulgarian citizens living in the UK after Brexit.The application process will be fully open by the UK's exit from the EU, with controlled testing being carried out at the moment.
The event included a Q&A session in which participants had the opportunity to directly ask the British government’s representatives the questions most relevant to them.
