The Bulgarian Embassy in London hosted a concert and reception for the diplomatic corps in anticipation of the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the European Council.
Five students from the Whitgift School performed pieces by renowned European composers including Pancho Vladigerov and Boris Karadimchev.
Svetozar Dimitrov, Third Secretary at the Embassy, addressed the guests together with Ms. RosаnnaWhitfied, Director of Music at the Whitgift School who spoke about Whitgift’s cooperation with Bulgaria. The Embassy’s representative pointed out that it is a genuine honour for Bulgaria to be taking up its first Presidency – a responsible task it will carry out successfully – and added: “Days before the UK marks Remembrance Day, it is impossible not to think about Europe’s complicated history throughout the 20th century and the long way we’ve come, especially the countries of Central and Eastern Europe such as Bulgaria.”
