Welcome to the website of the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Edirne, Republic of Türkiye.
The Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Edirne is one of the oldest diplomatic missions, along with those of Istanbul (Constantinople), Vienna, Paris, Bucharest, Belgrade, Athens, Thessaloniki among others. It was founded in 1896, initially as a commercial agency.
From its establishment to the present day, the mission of the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Edirne has been to enable a greater rapprochement between our two neighbouring and friendly nations - the Bulgarian and Turkish.
The strategic geographical location of Edirne, and the other areas part of our consular district - Kirklareli and Tekirdag, create favourable conditions for our active and effective work in the field of developing and deepening the political dialogue between Bulgaria and Türkiye; the trade and economic relations and contacts, mutual investments, tourism, cultural and educational exchange. We strive to meet the expectations and needs for positive development of relations between our two countries, at the regional level in all areas.
A main task of the Consulate General is to protect the rights and interests of Bulgarian citizens in our consular region- permanent residents, those travelling for business, cultural or educational exchange, those visiting relatives, receiving medical treatment, tourists, and others. At the same time, we are constantly striving to improve our work in assisting Turkish citizens from the regions of Edirne, Kirklareli, and Tekirdag, in their contacts with Bulgaria, including with regards to the issuance of visas.
