The Day of the Bulgarian Education and Culture and the Slavic Script was celebrated at the Bulgarian Embassy in Stockholm on May 18th, 2019. The event was jointly organised by the Bulgarian Cultural Association in Sweden, the First Bulgarian School in Stockholm and the Bulgarian Embassy.
The festive event was opened by the chair of the Bulgarian Cultural Association in Sweden, Maria Kostadinova, and ambassador Ivan Pavlov, who welcomed the pupils, teachers and parents and greeted them on the occasion of the end of the school year. The pupils of the First Bulgarian School in Stockholm received their graduation certificates.
The program of the festivity continued with poems, songs and folk dances performed by the school’s pupils. The young pianists Alexander and Sofie Brachkov played classical piano pieces.
The founder of the project “Unforgettable Bulgaria”, Iskren Krassimirov, gave a memorable lesson in patriotism. His interactive presentation of the lifework of some of the most prominent figures of the Bulgarian National Revival – Paisius of Hilendar, Sophronius of Vratsa, Vasil Levski, Hristo Botev, was given a warm reception by both children and adults.
By tradition, the festivity ended with Bulgarian banitsa and other Bulgarian dishes.
