27 March 2026 News
Within the framework of the visit to Poland of the Director General of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency, Mr. Kiril Valchev, a meeting with representatives of the Bulgarian diaspora was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Warsaw (March 6 this year).
The meeting was attended by: the Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria in Warsaw, Ms. Margarita Ganeva, diplomats from the Embassy, Bulgarians - university lecturers and teachers at the Bulgarian Sunday School, representatives of the folklore ensembles in Warsaw, representatives of the business community, cultural figures and other respected members of the Bulgarian community (about 30 people).
Mr. Valchev highlighted the successful partnership between the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA) and the Polish Telegraph Agency (PAP), aimed at free exchange of information and strengthening media relations between Bulgaria and Poland. In June 2022, the two agencies signed an official cooperation agreement, which led to the expansion of the direct exchange of news and the provision of fast and reliable access to verified first-hand information, without the mediation of major global news agencies.
During the meeting, Mr. Valchev presented the work of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency and reaffirmed its commitment to actively covering the activities of Bulgarians in Poland through the “BG World” column. He cited that since its establishment, 337 materials related to the community in Poland have been published. As important sources of information about the Bulgarian presence in Poland, Valchev pointed out the extremely active: Embassy and Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Warsaw, the honorary consuls of Bulgaria in Poland, the Bulgarian School “Dora Gabe” – Warsaw and its branch in Krakow, Bulgarian associations, folklore ensembles in Warsaw and Krakow, etc.
The role of the Bulgarian Sunday School and Bulgarian language teachers in Polish higher education institutions in the country as a kind of bridge between the two countries and as the main channel for preserving our language and culture was discussed. The significant contribution of Bulgarian artists in Poland was also emphasized - artists, masters of applied arts, musicians and dancers, whose presence in Polish cultural life not only popularizes Bulgarian aesthetics, but also creates a space for a deep cultural dialogue in which Bulgarian tradition is intertwined with the modern creative spirit.
Information was also exchanged on current bilateral business projects by the business representatives present at the meeting, as well as on the challenges associated with entering new markets. In the tourism sector, media partnership was indicated as an important tool for increasing mutual visibility and attracting new tourists. By actively sharing content about cultural events, significant events, natural landmarks, etc., the media, in particular BTA, could contribute to making Bulgaria a preferred year-round destination.
BTA undertook to systematically distribute LIK magazine and other educational publications among the community and among partner institutions. New horizons for the presence of Bulgarians abroad in BTA’s news flow were discussed, as well as more effective communication channels that would ensure that each of their significant successes would find its timely echo in the Homeland.
