Meeting with the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Bulgaria in the Polish Parliament

On January 27, 2019, at the Embassy in Warsaw, at the invitation of Ambassador Margarita Ganeva to the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Bulgaria in the Polish Parliament, a meeting was held, which was attended by the Senators: Robert Mamontov - Chairman of the Friendship Group with Bulgaria, Jarosław Rusiecki and Ryszard Mayer, the three from the PiS party, and the Sejm deputy Bożena Żelazowska from the Civic Platform coalition, who also holds the position of State Secretary in the Polish Ministry of Culture. Mr. Jan Stravinsky, Honorary Consul of Bulgaria in Gdansk, who is also Chairman of the Association of Honorary Consuls in Poland, was also invited and attended the meeting.
The Bulgarian Ambassador informed the guests about the development of bilateral relations with emphasis on: economy, trade, agriculture, transport, communications, tourism, defense and military-industrial cooperation, culture and education, etc. Bulgaria's entry into the Eurozone was emphasized. During the meeting, detailed information was presented on the state and dynamics of Bulgarian-Polish trade and economic relations, emphasizing that the results achieved over the past year are record-breaking (in 2024, it reached 4,978.3 million euros (the highest level of trade between Bulgaria and Poland to date), including for the first time a positive trade balance for our country in 2024 - Bulgarian exports to Poland amounted to 2,772.9 million euros (data from the Polish Statistical Office). Emphasis was also placed on the significant activation of bilateral investment flows, which clearly illustrates the growing interest of Bulgarian business in the Polish market.
Particular attention was paid to military and military-technical cooperation, including in the context of the SAFE program, the potential for developing cooperation in the field of space technologies and the production of unmanned weapon systems and for protection against them.
Tourism is a strategic element in Bulgarian-Polish relations and remains one of the most natural and sustainable bridges between Bulgaria and Poland. Over the past three years, the number of tourists visiting Bulgaria has exceeded 450 thousand Polish citizens annually. Along with traditional summer, sea tourism, there is a growing interest in urban and cultural tourism, in gastronomic and wine routes, as well as in balneo-, SPA and wellness tourism.
